The Granbury Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1907. We are dedicated to the prevention and suppression of fires, as well as response to medical emergencies and other incidents in the City of Granbury, Texas (35 miles southwest of Fort Worth), and Hood County.
Our sixty volunteer members serve the City of Granbury (pop. 6,000) and Hood County (pop. approx. 55,000) with a service area of approx. 436 sq. miles (15 surface sq. miles water), averaging about 1400 runs annually. In October 2003, we also began to respond to all emergency medical calls in the Granbury area.
The community profile is "urban residential/light industrial" with a rich historical background. The Granbury area is also rapidly growing, and we are prepared to handle the increase in volume and complexity of calls.
ISO (Insurance Service Office) Information:
The
City of Granbury (hydrant area) has an ISO rating of 3.
This is the best rating of any all volunteer fire department in the state of
Texas.
A "3" puts GVFD in the top 1600 fire departments (both paid and volunteer)
nationwide.
GVFD's
response area beyond the city limits and without hydrants has an ISO rating
of 6.
GVFD was the first fire department in Texas (paid or volunteer) to attain a
rural shuttle/relay ISO Class rating.
This also made us the first non-hydranted community in the state with a rating
less than 9.
