Ladder 1

The pride of the GVFD fleet, Ladder 1 (L1), is a 2000 model 105' ladder by Aerial Innovations and built by Quality on a Spartan chassis. It carries 750 gallons of water and is equipped with a Waterous 1750gpm pump. A Class 1 Fire Commander and FoamPro system help take the guesswork out of pumping. 5 crosslays consist of 200 feet of 1 3/4-inch and 2-inch line, and 250 feet of 1 3/4-inch, 2-inch and 2 1/2-inch lines. Off the rear is 1200 feet of 5-inch LDH and 200 feet of 3-inch to a gated 'Y', then 200 feet of 1 3/4-inch off each side of the 'Y'. Also off the rear is 150 feet of 2-inch with a TFT Blitz Fire monitor. On top on each side is an Elkhart Stinger 1250gpm deck gun. The ladder tip sports a 2000 gpm Elkhart automatic nozzle with remote control monitor, a pair of 1 million candlepower spotlights and two 750-watt floodlights. On the sides of the rig are two 750-watt flood lights. Supplying power to all these lights is a 20,000-watt PTO hydraulic generator. In addition, L1 also carries extrication equipment consisting of a Hurst ML-32 spreader, ML-12 cutter that can also spread, a 12-inch and an 18-inch ram and two ML-2H powerplants. All ISO required ladder and engine company equipment is carried. L1 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County. 


 Rescue 1

                    Rescue 1 (R1)  is a Supervac body on a Spartan Chassis. R1 is powered by a 400 hp Cummins turbo diesel coupled to an Allison transmission.  R1 is equipped with a  preconnected Holmatro cutter, spreader and ram for use in vehicle extrication. It also carries a complete set of technical rescue equipment along with a PTO drive, AC generator and air compressor and has a command light on the roof for lighting.   R1 holds 500 gallons of water, has a 1250 gpm pump along with all the tools needed to attack a structure fire.  R1 is housed at Station 1 and is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County.  



Rescue 2

Rescue 2 (R2)  is a 1995 Heavy Duty 1 ton Chevy. It's powered by a 454 V8 with a 4 speed automatic transmission. It is a light/medium-duty rescue truck. In addition to rescue/extrication equipment, it carries a 4-bottle cascade system for refilling air bottles, a front mounted electric winch, and a generator for scene lighting and electric power. R2 is housed at Station 2 .



Engine 1

Engine 1 (E1) is our reserve engine. It is a 1981 Arrow Apparatus pumper on a Ford chassis carrying 750 gallons of water with a 750gpm Champion Fire Pump by W.S. Darley. It is powered by a Ford gas engine with a 5 speed manual transmission and a two-speed rear axle. It also has pump-and-roll capability, allowing it to function somewhat like a brush truck or crash truck if necessary. This can be important for stopping wildland fires at roads and homes. Seating 5, E1  has 2 crosslays of 200 feet of 1 3/4-inch line. Off the back is 1200 feet of 5-inch LDH and 200 feet of 2 1/2-inch hose. All ISO required ladder and engine company equipment is also carried. E1 is housed at Station 2.



Engine 3

Engine 3 (E3) is a 1997 model built by Quality on a Spartan chassis. Along with 750 gallons of water, it has a 1500gpm Waterous pump. The cab seats six and is roomy enough for 4 firefighters in the back to be comfortable, even donning SCBA. Engine 3 carries the same compliment of equipment as E1 with the addition of an 'omni-tool' for basic vehicle extrication duties. It also carries all BLS medical equipment, and it is the vehicle of choice for high priority medical calls and car accidents in the city of Granbury. E3 is housed at Station 2.  E3 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County . 



Engine 4

Engine 4 (E4) is a 1993 pumper built by KME. It carries 750 gallons of water and has a 1250gpm Hale pump. Seating 6, it carries the same compliment of tools and equipment as E1.  E4 is housed at Station 1.  E4 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County.



Engine 6

Engine 6 (E6) is a 2001 pumper-tanker built by E-One. It is one of 9 custom aluminum cab pumper-tankers that were purchased by Hood County for the county's 9 volunteer fire departments. It carries 2000 gallons of water and is equipped with a 1250gpm Hale pump. It seats 6 with room to spare and carries all ISO required ladder and engine company equipment, as well as an AED for unforeseen medical emergencies. E6 can also responds as a tanker when needed. It is housed at Station 2.  E6 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County.



Brush 1

Brush 1 (B1) is a 1996 1-ton Chevy 4x4. It has a 454 V8 and a 4 speed automatic transmission. It carries 250 gallons of water and a Hale pump. It also carries a Pro-Pak for those times when Class A foam is needed. There are 3 hose outlets and 100 feet of 1-inch "redline" on an electric reel.  B1 runs out of Station 1.



Brush 3

While "well broken-in," Brush 3 (B3)  will still go just about anywhere. B3 is a 1979 GMC 1-ton 4x4 that carries 250 gallons of water with a Wisconsin pump. It's powered by a 350 V8 and a 4-barrel carburetor with a 3-speed automatic transmission and low differential gearing. For an older truck, it will still "get up and go." B3 runs out of Station 1 and is the truck of choice when rugged terrain is a concern.



Brush 4

Brush 4 (B4) is a 2005 Ford F-450 4x4. It's powered by a 325 Hp 32 valve 6.0 liter turbo diesel which produces 570 ft-lbs of torque. Power is delivered through a 5 speed automatic transmission. B4 carries 400 gallons of water in the tank. Water is pumped with a Hale gasoline pump that delivers approximately 200 GPM. It has 2 short hoses/whip lines, a 1-inch "redline" on an electric reel, and a remote-controlled nozzle mounted on the front bumper with a 'control stick' on the dashboard in the cab. B4 is housed in Station 2



Tanker 1

Tanker 1 (T1) is a 2001 E-One on a Freightliner chassis. It carries 3000 gallons of water and is equipped with 3 dump valves, one on each side and one off the back that can empty the tank in about 30 seconds. It is equipped with a 500gpm Hale pump and two 150 foot 1 3/4-inch crosslays, it also sports two 3000-gallon portable folding tanks. T1 responds on all major county calls out of Station 1.

 



Light and Air 1

Light and Air 1 (LA1) is a 1970 Chevy 1 ton 4x4. It's powered by a freshly rebuilt 350 V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor, Flowmaster exhaust system, and 3 speed automatic transmission.   It carries plenty of rope and rappelling equipment as well as a large, 6-bottle cascade system for refilling SCBA packs, a Ramsey front-mounted electric winch, and a gas generator for lights and electric power. LA1 responds out of Station 1 to structure fires for air and light support.



Squad 1

Squad 1 is a 1996 Chevy 1 ton single-rear-wheeled truck. It's a "crew cab" with seating for 4 or 5. It's powered by an EFI 350 V8 with a 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission. There are many "bells and whistles" including leather seating and a factory CD player. It carries a Knox Box Key System and functions as a command vehicle on larger incidents. Squad 1 is also frequently used for EMS calls within the City of Granbury and is housed at Station 1. Squad 1 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County.



Squad 2

Squad 2 is a 1997 Ford F-250 4x4. It's a crew cab short bed and is powered by an EFI 460 V8 with a 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission. It has dual fuel tanks, heavy duty Ranch-Hand style bumpers, and is the Chief's primary vehicle. It has been outfitted with two 2-way radios and a laptop that interfaces with a GPS for high-tech command situations. Squad 2 stays at Station 2 when it is not being used by the Chief. Squad 2 is equipped with GPS coupled to a digital map. It is also equipped with images of structures within Hood County.
